Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and Penn State Extension are excited to host Dr. Allan Armitage for a day of spirited and inspiring lectures all about annuals, perennials and native plants that will have you reveling in the joys of gardening as you explore a whole new world of possibilities.

The price of registration, which includes a catered lunch, is $85 on or before June 19; the cost increases to $95 after this date. Please register in advance by visiting phipps.conservatory.org and selecting the “Classes and Programs” menu or by calling 412/441-4442, ext. 3925.

Dr. A’s Top Annuals and Perennials:

If you have overlooked the potential of annuals in the past, Dr. Armitage will change your mind about these delightful plants by showing off some of his favorite varieties, both common and more unique. He will also present a number of great go-to perennials that are guaranteed to enliven your landscape and leave you positively inspired.

Tales from the Garden:

Whether he is elevating the common ‘Annabelle’ hydrangea through his prose, or offering a glimpse into the world of a young girl with pockets full of secret seeds, Dr. Armitage is sure to entertain you with beloved stories that even non-gardeners will love.

Going green has never been easier, thanks to the knowledge Dr. Armitage will share in this lecture highlighting stand-out American herbaceous natives and popular nativars.
